Streetscape
Shenandoah was one of the first in our region to renovate its' downtown streetscape in 2000. The award-winning design features stylish lamp posts, beautiful overflowing colorful hanging baskets, and park benches. It creates a charming shopping atmosphere surrounded by the Iowa Walk of Fame tiles. There are friendly merchants in a variety of unique and nostalgic shops, restaurants, banks, and even a downtown hotel. In summer there is a farmers' market nearby in Priest Park on Wednesday afternoons and Saturday mornings.
Location
Shenandoah's western edge along Highway 59 (Everly Brothers Avenue) features big box stores, garden centers, auto dealers & gas stations, banks, ag businesses, a variety of grocery stores, furniture, and many fast-food, and restaurant choices. Shenandoah's location is easy to find at the intersection of state highways 59 and 2. It's an hour southeast of Omaha, and 2.5 hours from Kansas City and Des Moines, conveniently located for access to big city amenities and airports, but without the traffic.
